WHO WE ARE
XRC Ventures is a multi-strategy fund investing at the intersection of consumer behavior and advancements in technology. Our investments span the entire end to end consumer experience: supply chain, store tech, online tech, analytics, consumer brands, and martech/adtech. In 2022, we launched the Brand Capital Fund to focus on generation-defining consumer brands.
OUR EVOLUTION
XRC Ventures has gone through numerous iterations since our inception as the XRC Labs accelerator in 2015. From the onset, we have brought together a retail and consumer ecosystem of thought leaders on Wall Street, Retailers, Consumer Brands and founders to inform and accelerate the growth of innovative startups. Through those relationships and our over 135 companies invested, XRC Ventures has grown in the number of funds and AUM.
XRC Ventures is a small team and we give team members ownership to enable them to contribute across the organization in a meaningful way. The team sources and evaluates early-stage technology companies and supports the full diligence process.
**WHO YOU ARE
**This role is for candidates (Undergraduate, MBA, or early career) serious about venture — specifically early-stage technology investing in Retail and Consumer.
You are not here to observe — you want reps. You’re naturally curious, but more importantly, you form views. You ask good questions, go deep on what matters, and take initiative without waiting for direction. You are analytical, resourceful, and clear communicators — able to synthesize information into a punchline, not just research. You are comfortable working independently and contributing to real investment work.
Fluency in Claude is expected — this should be your default tool for research, synthesis, and pattern recognition. Familiarity with Notion (for organizing workstreams) and Affinity (for sourcing and pipeline management) is important. Proficiency in Google Slides is required; working knowledge of Google Sheets and tools like Crunchbase is helpful but not required.
Sample Projects and Responsibilities:
-
Proactively source companies — be a deal hound. This means being at events, meeting founders, and consistently bringing in opportunities that fit the fund’s thesis
-
Before bringing a company forward, do the work: use Claude to develop a baseline view (market, competitive set, why it matters, initial POV)
-
Attend events and founder meetings with the expectation of output: who you met, what matters, and whether it’s worth pursuing
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
-
High agency — you take ownership, figure things out, and don’t wait for direction
-
Strong judgment and analytical thinking — you can assess a company, place it in context, and form a clear POV
-
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment — prioritize, move quickly, and stay organized across multiple workstreams
-
Clear, concise communication — punchline-first writing and strong presentation skills with attention to detail
-
Deal-oriented mindset — you’re motivated to source, meet founders, and build a pipeline (not just analyze decks)
-
Willingness to go deep — on a company, category, or theme — and develop real insight
-
Fluency in Claude as a core tool for research, synthesis, and pattern recognition
-
Working knowledge of Notion, Affinity, and the Google Workspace (especially Slides)
Preferred
-
Interest in early-stage technology investing (Retail/Consumer infrastructure, enablement, and tooling — not CPG brands)
-
Experience with sourcing, founder outreach, or pipeline development
-
Prior exposure to startup analysis, investing, consulting, or operating roles
-
Experience using AI/tools to improve research, sourcing, or workflows
-
Comfortable attending events and translating conversations into actionable insights
