XRC Ventures is an early stage venture fund for the next generation of disruptors in retail technology, consumer healthtech and consumer goods. Our investments span the entire end-to-end consumer experience: commerce enablement, nextgen commerce channels, consumer healthtech, sustainable commerce, supply chain & logistics and consumer brands. OUR EVOLUTION

XRC Ventures has gone through numerous iterations since our inception as the XRC Labs accelerator in 2015. From the onset, we brought together a retail and consumer ecosystem of Wall Street thought leaders, retailers, brands and founders to inform and accelerate the growth of innovative startups. Through those relationships and our over 140 companies invested, XRC Ventures has grown in the number of funds and assets under management (AUM).

We migrated from traditional accelerator sourcing, which is often characterized as ‘spray and pray’ or ‘fund and forget’ to a pre-seed investing model that identifies and delivers the bespoke services needed to ensure that the startups achieve their next round of funding effortlessly.

We are actively investing in experienced talent to grow the fund into our next phase of growth. We have learned many lessons, and our most important is that human capital is the most valuable asset. WHO YOU ARE

An MBA student with an interest to roll up their sleeves and learn more about venture capital. The MBA intern will play a critical dual role in our team, both serving one of our portfolio companies directly, and driving special internal projects from the office of our Founder/Managing Director. This position will require a strong sense of autonomy, taking end-to-end ownership of deliverables on behalf of our portfolio company, Joymode. An interest in both learning, and creating immediate value will be important.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS

Leading an XRC Ventures portfolio company in a sell-side process (80% of role)

• Identifying key inputs, including:
  • Market size / growth opportunity /industry tailwinds
  • Partnership / use cases for partnership
  • Potential investor list
  • Initial business valuation comps
  • Documented long term vision for company
• Translating learnings into impactful materials to share with prospective investors
  • Pitch deck
  • Business cases
  • Working financial model
  • Sell-side demo showing off platform’s capabilities

Advance special projects from the office of our founder and Managing Director (20%)

• Prepare content to support our investor base, startups, and broader retail/consumer ecosystem
• Host calls to evaluate opportunities with prospective vendors and external partners
• Meet with founders from XRC Ventures’ Accelerator to understand quarterly traction, needs, and growth ahead

SKILLS TO DRIVE SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

Specific skills that will suit this candidate:

• Independent with strong sense of ownership
• Strong in Powerpoint (Google Slides design)
• Experience building pitch decks and sell-side materials
• Proactive, able to set and meet deadlines
• Strategic mindset - capable of outlining and executing a path to success
• Highly creative in problem solving / solutioning (the most convenient answers are often not the best ones)
• Experience as a founder a plus (creating pitch decks to outline go-to-market strategies, investment, etc.)
• Familiarity with SAAS businesses and/or startups a plus

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum: Bachelors; MBA students strongly encouraged
• Strong presentation skills, both in developing powerpoint, and live communication, required
  • Ability to capture thoughts and bring them into a coherent set of visual messages
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to translate ambiguity into discrete action
• Proactive, action-oriented
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments
• Versatile team-player
• Passion for consumer startups and the disruptive nature of this industry

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

• Compensation: $23 - $25 per hour
• DOL Status: Non Exempt, Hourly
• Part Time: 15 - 29 hours per week
• Location: US-based; remote okay
• This role will report to our Founder/Managing Director’s Chief of Staff
