Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Compliance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust compliance policies and procedures. This position is pivotal in upholding regulatory standards, managing risk, and ensuring that Pockyt.io consistently meets the highest levels of integrity and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Policy, Licensing & Regulatory Compliance Management
- Policy & Procedures: Develop, update, and document comprehensive policies and procedures (including AML, CTF, sanctions, KYC/CDD, internal controls, data privacy, and consumer protection), and manage deviations and exceptions.
- Licensing & Regulatory Filings: Oversee licensing processes (MTL, FINTRAC/SOS, surety bonds), manage renewals, prepare and submit regulatory reports, monitor regulatory changes, ensure adherence to sanctions (e.g., OFAC), and manage escheatment/unclaimed property processes.
2. Audit, Risk & Quality Assurance
- Audit Management: Coordinate internal and external audits (with financial institutions and regulatory bodies), manage examinations, maintain audit trails, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Risk Assessments & QA: Conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments (including customer, geographic, and product risk ratings), develop mitigation strategies, and perform quality assurance reviews (transaction monitoring, KYC/CDD), maintaining thorough risk registers.
3. Training, Committee & Vendor Oversight
- Training & Education: Develop and deliver company-wide compliance training programs (AML/CTF, sanctions, KYC, data privacy), ensuring all employees complete required sessions, with specialized training for high-risk departments.
- Committee Management: Schedule and facilitate compliance committee meetings, prepare agendas, document meeting minutes, and ensure timely follow-up on action items.
- Vendor Management: Identify and assess vendors, conduct risk evaluations, monitor vendor performance, manage contracts, and oversee terminations as needed.
4. Investigations & Compliance Administration
- Investigations & Reporting: Lead internal investigations of potential compliance breaches, prepare and file regulatory reports (e.g., Suspicious Activity Reports), and manage law enforcement inquiries.
- Administration: Complete due diligence questionnaires, handle periodic reviews, manage subpoenas and legal requests, and maintain comprehensive compliance records and correspondence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CRCM) are preferred.
- Extensive experience in compliance, risk management, or a related discipline, preferably within the financial services or payments industry.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks including AML, CTF, KYC/CDD, and data privacy laws.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
