About The Barb Shop

The Barb Shop is a first-of-its-kind flagship retail space for our growing haircare brand. It’s a salon reimagined; a welcoming, gender-inclusive space focused on short hair, from bobs to buzz cuts.

Part hair studio, part soda fountain, The Barb Shop is a hub for hair, culture, and connection.

Over the past four+ years, we’ve built a premium haircare brand serving short-haired clients across the U.S. Our San Francisco flagship is the physical home of that community.

The Role

We’re looking for barbers and stylists to join our team and help shape the future of the brand.

This is more than a chair. It’s a role that blends technical craft, client experience, and brand participation.

We are open to both experienced stylists/barbers and early career talent who are excited to learn, grow and build within a supportive environment.

What You’ll Do

Craft & Client Experience

• Deliver high-quality short haircuts (bobs, pixies, buzz cuts, and beyond)
• Provide thoughtful consultations and tailored recommendations
• Build and retain a loyal client base
• Maintain a clean, organized, and elevated workspace
• Stay current on cutting (and, if applicable, color) techniques

Business Contribution

• Drive bookings, retention, and retail performance
• Confidently recommend and sell The Barb Shop products

Content & Brand

• Capture before/after content and styling moments
• Collaborate on campaigns and product storytelling
• Contribute ideas for content, events, and brand growth

Team & Culture

• Show up as a reliable, positive, and collaborative team member
• Contribute to a high-performing, supportive shop environment

Who You Are

• Passionate about short hair with a strong portfolio

• An established stylist looking for a brand-forward, environment

• An early-career stylist ready to build your skills and clientele with mentorship

Requirements

• Valid California cosmetology or barber license
• 1–5+ years experience (short hair focus preferred)
• Strong communication and client service skills
• Interest in content creation and brand building
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Nice to Have

• Color, curl, or short hair specialization
• Photo/video or social content skills
• Hospitality or retail experience
• Existing San Francisco client base

Hours & Structure

• PT or FT scheduling
• FT typically ~40 hours/week
• Competitive hourly rate based on experience
• When not with clients, expectation is to contribute to the business
• Estimated annual range: $60,000-$95,000
